Question by Summer: How are social issues different from economic issues?
I have to answer this for class. However, I'm not sure what the right answer is. What I've come up with so far is that economic issues such as men and women receiving equal pay, are affected by social issues, such as society's view that a woman's work is less important. Any ideas?

You might want to tackle this in the way that you suggest, which is that the two sets of issues are highly interrelated. If this is for a sociology class, the teacher will probably have his/her own opinion about what constitutes an economic or social issue. I'm guessing that you have been presented with a rather narrow definition of the concerns of economists. Economists are interested in just about any topic that sociologist are. Take divorce, clearly there is a social component, but the economics of divorce is interesting too. Perhaps you could present your teacher with several examples of situations where you think the social side dominates, or the economic side dominates, and some where they are so intertwined as to be hard to pull apart.
