With a wealth of fascinating details about Jane Austen's life and times, this book brings to life the world of her novels which have given rise to a spate of films and television dramas: the film,Sense and Sensibility, was a major Oscar winner in 1998; Emma, starring Gwyneth Paltrow, was a huge box office success in 1996; most recently Pride and Prejudice starring Keira Knightley was released.
Austen scholar Deirdre Le Faye first gives a meticulously researched overview of the period, from foreign affairs to social ranks, from fashion to sanitation. She goes on to consider each novel individually, explaining in detail its action, its setting, the reaction of public and critics and Jane's own feeling about it. The lavish illustrations, many never seen before, allow the reader to visualize the places and people of the novels. This book is essential reading for students of literature and of social history, and for all Jane Austen enthusiasts who want to gain a new insight into her work.

Way back in 2003 Lexxy and I were in the middle of an insane amount of photoshoots. On this day we did 3 shoots. This is the second in the series called 'Army'. These where initially released but later pulled so I could take my time working on them. Only took 7 years.

Question by hisgirl24: What is the difference between getting a "teacher certification" and majoring in secondary education?
I want to be a teacher and I am strating to look at colleges.I would love to be able to teach k-12 with a forcus on math but I am looking for secondary education with a focus on math. A lot of schools offer "teacher certification" but not a major in secondary education. I was just wondering what the difference between the two is and if it is better to major in secondary education or to get a teacher certification for secondary education. Any advice would help. Thanks!

Answer by M. H majoring in secondary education means you will receive a degree in teaching secondary students.teaching certificate is like a license to teach, like a nurse needs in order to work as a nurse.
The first biography of the girl whose fate has touched the lives of millions. For people all over the world, Anne Frank, the vivacious, intelligent Jewish girl with a crooked smile and huge dark eyes, has become the "human face of the Holocaust." Her diary of twenty-five months in hiding, a precious record of her struggle to keep hope alive through the darkest days of this century, has touched the hearts of millions. Here, after five decades, is the first biography of this remarkable figure. Drawing on exclusive interviews with family and friends, on previously unavailable correspondence, and on documents long kept secret, Melissa Muller creates a nuanced portrait of her famous subject. This is the flesh-and-blood Anne Frank, unsentimentalized and so all the more affecting--Anne Frank restored to history. Muller traces Frank's life from an idyllic childhood in an assimilated family well established in Frankfurt banking circles to her passionate adolescence in German-occupied Amsterdam and her desperatein Bergen Belsen at the age of sixteen. Full of revelations, this richly textured biography casts new light on Anne's relations with her mother, whom she treats harshly in the diary, and solves an enduring mystery: who betrayed the families hiding in the annex just when liberation was at hand? This is an indispensable volume for all those who seek a deeper, richer understanding of Anne Frank and the brutal times in which she lived and died. One of this book's great strengths is writer MelissaMร¼ller's ability to situate Anne Frank's famous diary within alarger historical and biographical context--more than half of itcovers the years before the Franks went into hiding. Equally importantis her discovery of the existence of five pages Otto Frank removedfrom his daughter's original diary and entrusted shortly before hisdeath to Cor Sujik, international director of New York's Anne Frank Center. Sujik showed these pages to Mร¼ller, who accurately notesin the biography that they "enhance our understanding of the diary'sauthor."
Until now, readers have known the eight people sequestered in thesecret annex through Anne's eyes only. Mร¼ller reveals everyone'scorrect names (they were changed for the diary's publication) andtactfully corrects a teenager's skewed perceptions when necessary, always reminding us of the claustrophobic closeness and materialdeprivation that sometimes fueled Anne's uncharitable comments about, for example, the middle-aged dentist with whom she was forced to sharea room. Mร¼ller also plausibly identifies the Dutch informant whobetrayed the secret annex's inhabitants to the Gestapo. Horrorsuffuses Mร¼ller's grim recap of the Franks' ordeal at Auschwitzand Bergen-Belsen, though there is some comfort in survivors' reportsthat Anne, her mother, and her older sister formed "an inseparabletrio," all former quarrels forgotten in their fierce struggle to saveeach other. They failed, and Mร¼ller does not gloss over thattragedy. But she reminds us that, "In the end, the Nazi terror couldnot silence Anne's voice, which still rings out for all of us."
