I am planning a trip to nyc for july 2009. where can i find maps brochures, books, and guides, for free.. and online so that they can be delivered to my house?

You might want to contact the NYC tourism department:

They will offer free brochures

Also,
Go to your local public library, they may have what you are looking for
AAA has travel guides, but you may have to join AAA to get them, it would be cheaper to buy one if you havn't already become a member
Most book stores have them in the travel section. Any decent travel guide will be between 15 and 20$ US. Mine cost .00
