An odd thing to stumble upon when out exploring Kootenay ghost towns -- Vancouver trolley buses! a) WTF! b) Cool!

The entire town of Sandon is slowly being restored, so I guess they thought why not do a few buses while they're at it. They have the space and the resources out there, and being in the middle of nowhere, they also have lots and lots of spare time.

These old Brill trolley coaches are being restored here after being rescued from the scrapper in 2001. The coach pictured is the first one they finished (photo taken in 2005) and is on display for the public. The people in charge of the project hope to be able to send the finished buses to museums and/or historical societies in North American cities where electric trolley systems still operate.
